Prime-ministers of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan kicked off the fiber-optic line construction through the Caspian sea

Prime Minister Askar Mamin and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov took part in the ceremony of a Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic (TCFO) link to construct a fiber-optic network (FOCL) between the two countries at the bottom of the Caspian Sea in Aktau

vizit mangistau 12The project is transcontinental, creating a digital telecoms corridor between Europe and Asia. Cable works on the bottom of the Caspian Sea, about 380-400 km, are carried out by TransTelecom, KazTransCom, and the Azerbaijani telecommunications operator AzerTelecom. The FOCL will be commissioned by the end of 2021, which will allow supplying data with a capacity of at least 4-6 terabytes/s.

“Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan. The principles of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation were laid by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Nazarbayev, leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and then President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, continuing the foreign policy of the Head of the State, pays special attention to the development and deepening of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, - said A.Mamin.

The head of the Kazakhstan Government emphasized that the joint project Trans Caspian Fiber Optic will allow a higher level of data transfer speed and secure infrastructure, to enter the leading Europe-Asia trunk routes and take a place in the world data transit.
