FLIR Systems launches the FC Series T thermal imager
As the number of vehicles on the road grows, so does demand for traffic monitoring and road surveillance systems that can operate around the clock.
The regular surveillance cameras currently in use are ineffective at night and seriously limited during the day as well. On the other hand, thermal imaging cameras are not blinded by sunlight, allowing them to be placed in any position that offers optimum coverage. These infra-red systems also do away with the problems, such as missed signals, experienced by technology designed to operate in daylight.
Thermal imaging cameras can be used for several aspects of road safety, including:
- Vehicle tracking at junctions
- Roadside monitoring
- Tracking vehicle flow through tunnels
- Traffic management on motorways
The advantages of thermal imaging can also be put to work in a huge range of areas and sectors.
The FLIR FC Series T is equipped with a microbolometer and with a resolution of 320 pixels by 240, it can pick out even the smallest detail. The Series T is available with 9mm, 13mm or 19mm lenses. Any FLIR FC Series T model can be incorporated into existing infrastructure, eliminating the need to dig up roads or carry out extensive work, and it can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Series T stands out thanks to its reliability - its main components are protected from moisture and dust to IP66 standard, and it can operate in temperatures ranging from -50°С to -75°С.
Like all thermal imagers, the Series T is operational with video analysis software.
